We have five reasons to quit your job and do your Divemaster training at Scuba Republic Komodo.

Indonesia is home to amazing biodiversity. The Indo-Pacific is on the bucket list for all divers at some point in their diving career. The dive sites that you will experience during your Divemaster training are beautiful and flourishing with life. If you are interested in diving, this is the place for you!

Reason 1: the dive industry

If you have ever been diving or had diver friends, you may know that the dive industry has a super chilled, laid back atmosphere. You will also know that most people don’t take themselves too seriously. The dive industry itself is constantly growing, expanding, and improving. It is not an outdated profession, moreover, it’s a current, relevant job and lifestyle.

If you are the type of person who shies away from blue-collar jobs, the dive industry may be far better suited to you. This lifestyle is more of a life of leisure. Saying this, the Divemaster life should not be considered as a holiday, and you will be expected to work hard!

Reason 2: expectations of a conventional lifestyle

Growing up in western culture there is an expectation from society, families, and peers. The expectations of a conventional or ‘typical’ lifestyle would be continuing further education, going to university, and graduating. Then, getting a 9-5 job in the field of your degree, getting married, having children and settling down somewhere in the UK.

Of course, this is not what everybody feels expected to do. And, of course, you don’t have to conform to this pressure. But it is considered the general norm by previous generations. This is by no means an unhappy lifestyle and for the majority of people, it is what they aim and thrive for.

However, in the 21st century, there are many more options to freely choose the lifestyle you want. People are having children much later and much less nowadays. The ‘alternative’ lifestyle is taking a more prominent part in young people’s lives. People are becoming much more aware that there are other options, maybe ones that are not as common.

Not everybody has to conform to the ‘norm’, everybody has a CHOICE. This is a reason for anybody who is interested in diving, or living abroad for a while, to consider leaving their job and pursuing the Divemaster life in Indonesia.

The youth of today should feel free to pursue an alternative lifestyle, and this may be the path towards that.

Why not?

You only live once, as cliche as it sounds and we know that it does, it is true and you do only live once. If you have a desire, ambition or even a curiosity into what it would be like to leave your country and complete your Divemaster training at Scuba Republic Komodo, in Indonesia, DO IT!

If you start your Divemaster here in Indonesia and decide that it’s not for you, that’s fine, it’s not a permanent decision. People of all ages should sit back, take a look at their lifestyle, and think, is this what I want? Is this making me happy? If the answer is no, then what are your options?

Reason 3: Divemaster qualification

The first step to becoming a scuba diving professional is completing your Divemaster training. With this qualification, you can live and work all around the world. The money is not amazing, but you should have enough to live.

The Divemaster internship will give you a boost in confidence. It will give you the ability to guide dives and the skills to save lives in the water. It will also give you more extensive knowledge of marine life.

Even if you decide at the end of your training that it’s not for you, that’s fine. The Divemaster qualification will be recognised in the future and you can pick it up again at any time.

You will be surrounded by like-minded people with one passion in common. You can live and work remotely and experience a different culture while diving every day.

People from all over the world leave their native country to pursue a career in diving abroad. You will never be alone. At Scuba Republic Komodo, you will join a team of experienced dive instructors, along with other Divemasters, boat crew, and guests.

The experiences you will have on the boat, in the water, and at the shop of Scuba Republic will make you feel as though you have a family in this unfamiliar country that is Indonesia.
